The chamber choir, formed of students from years 4, 5 and 6, performed well-known songs including Somewhere Over the Rainbow and The Lord is my Shepherd. Students also performed impressive solo instrumentals such as Cow Boy Blues on piano and the White Cliffs of Dover on Clarinet while residents sang along gleefully.
After the musical entertainment, the children spoke to residents, putting smiles on many faces.
Year 5 student, Nayana, said: “We enjoyed every moment of our visit to Whitgift House. We loved chatting with the residents and we particularly enjoyed hearing them sing along while we performed to them.”
Kitty, a resident of Whitgift House, said: “They were absolutely amazing. I love to see how hard they tried. The world will be their oyster.”
Whitgift House sheltered resident, Maureen, said: “Excellent polished performance! The students were very polite.”
Resident Pat, said: “It brings back treasured memories of playing the Cello.”
