How to apply for a place in a Whitgift Care home

The first step is simply to come and see the home in person to get an idea about its facilities, activities, staff and fees. You don’t need to make an appointment.

If after your initial visit you or your family member decides they want to become a resident, then you should make an appointment for an assessment. The assessment is important for us to make sure we offer you the most appropriate form of care, so we will ask questions about you or your family member’s mobility needs, personal care needs, health issues and dietary requirements.

Once we have completed the assessment and are able to meet all requirements we will arrange an admission date. In all cases of permanent placements there is a four week trial on either side. This will then enable the person to decide if we are indeed the place for them and if we are able to meet all of their needs.

On admission we will draw up a personalised plan of care.

A ‘key worker’ will be assigned to you once you have settled in. A key worker is a member of the care staff who will provide varied and comprehensive support when on duty such as assisting you or your family member to participate in social and recreational activities.

After the four week trial we sign a contract for permanent placement within Wilhelmina House.
