From carol services to coffee mornings, our residents have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a variety of festive activities and events this month across Whitgift Care:
The Whitgift Almshouses began the snowball of successful Christmas events at the end of November with their annual Early Bird Christmas Market. Selling goods made by residents, items included homemade chutneys and jams, Christmas puddings and knitwear. Staff and residents also beautifully wrapped over 100 Christmas puddings for the Croydon Commitment Christmas Hamper collection to help Croydon Neighbourhood Care provide a festive hamper for vulnerable families or individuals this Christmas.
A highlight from Wilhelmina House was their Christmas Coffee Morning – a great success with an excellent £548 raised! Residents, staff, friends and family attended the morning where tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes were on offer. Wilhelmina House was also filled with festive cheers and singing for the annual staff choir performance which was a great joy for all involved. Resident, Irene, said: “It was brilliant fun – the staff had fun and so did we!”
Whitgift House also held their Christmas Coffee Morning this year with a raffle that included a range of wonderful winnings such as chocolate, gin and several warm Christmas blankets. Residents’ families attended the event and were on hand to serve teas and coffees. One relative commented: “The morning has gone so well, I can’t believe the amount of tea people have drunk. Everyone has enjoyed themselves.”
