Whitgift Care features in Whitgift Foundation 2015 Annual Journal

The Whitgift Foundation’s new Annual Journal is available to view online. The journal highlights the key milestones that took place throughout 2015/14 across the Foundation’s Schools, Whitgift Care, Carers Support Centre and within the local community – including our annual Croydon Heritage Festival.

Find out more about Whitgift Care by reading about the events and celebrations enjoyed by residents and many of Whitgift Care’s achievements, including the celebration of the 5 years of Gold Standard Care at Whitgift House.

The Gold Standard was originally attained in 2010 when Whitgift House embarked on a rigorous training programme – the Gold Standard’s Framework. It is the only accredited programme in the UK that is dedicated to enabling generalist front line staff to provide a gold standard of end of life care.

A special milestone is the 105th birthday of Whitgift Care’s eldest resident, Leila Day, who celebrated her birthday last December. Residents, staff and family gathered at Whitgift House to celebrate Leila’s special day. Everyone enjoyed live music performed by the Cantilena Singers – a wonderful ladies choir, before singing a special rendition of Happy Birthday.

The Annual Journal gives a month-by-month review of the imaginative, quirky and above all enjoyable events that our residents take part in across the three care homes. Including the annual New Years balloon release at Wilhelmina House in January, the St George’s Day party at Whitgift House in April, the Whitgift Almshouses Garden Party in September and the many celebrations throughout December to celebrate Christmas.
