From garden parties to coffee mornings, the Whitgift Care community has always enjoyed a keen focus on charity fundraising.
This year, Dolores, Director of Care, announced that the Smile Train will be Whitgift Care’s charity of the year. The Smile Train is the largest cleft-focussed global charity that provides a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. More than 200,000 babies are born with clefts every year globally.
Many children with untreated clefts around the world live in isolation and may have difficulty breathing, hearing, eating and speaking. Cleft treatment takes just 45 minutes and its impact on a child is immediate and life changing. The Smile Train has supported 1.5million cleft surgeries since 1999.
