The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Whitgift Care
During the celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee both Whitgift and Wilhelmina House got involved in many activities to mark the historic event.

During the celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee both Whitgift House and Wilhelmina House got involved in many activities to mark the historic event. Our Platinum Jubilee celebrations started off with our residents watching the Trooping the Colours ceremony where they saw over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians, come together in one of the most esteemed military displays in the world. This was a fitting event to celebrate a remarkable seven decades on the throne and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone at Whitgift Care. Our residents also celebrated by picking out a horse for an Epsom Derby sweepstake. Some of our lucky residents enjoyed prizes whilst everyone appreciated a custom jubilee themed cake and a beverage. Residents were also treated to a sing and dance with Steve Robinson with renditions of some classic songs to enhance the weekend celebrations. At Wilhelmina House residents enjoyed a tea party with Platinum Jubilee themed decorations.
To round off our celebrations our very own Whitgift House resident Peter Price, formerly an Archbishop, is a friend of Jools and invited him to the house to round of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations when he realised, he would be in Croydon performing later that night. Jools treated the residents with an impromptu performance on the piano in the community hall and the planting of a plum tree in the gardens the event was greatly enjoyed by the residents of the house.
A big thank you to all the staff who helped everyone celebrate this historic event in such a fun way.
